With less than four months to go until the £1.1m All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Lingfield Park on Good Friday, 25th March, the action has been typically entertaining during the last seven days, featuring a variety of famous faces, some less familiar than others...


If you were reading this column last Wednesday you'll know some effort went into trying to work out how Kempton Park's listed Wild Flower Stakes would pan out that evening, eventually going the way of Mark Johnston's Fire Fighting. Under a forceful ride from an ice cool Adam Kirby, he stayed on powerfully to deny new trainer George Scott a winner with his first ever runner, as second placed Hamelin was forced to settle for minor honours on a significant day for Lady Cecil's former assistant.
