About the championships, the tracks and finals day.

All Weather Explained

The All-Weather Championships offer the very best of British All-Weather racing and consist of over 200 fixtures incorporating all the flat races running from Tuesday 17 October 2023 to Good Friday 29 March 2024 at Chelmsford City, Kempton Park, Lingfield Park Resort, Newcastle, Southwell and Wolverhampton.

The Championships aims to improve the quality and reputation of All-Weather racing and encourage Owners and Trainers to keep their horses in training during the winter months to compete in one of the six categories, designed to test every horse, jockey and trainer in the UK.

Since the opening of the Tapeta All-Weather surface at Newcastle, there are now far more Northern horses staying in training through the winter making the most of the good opportunities on offer.

All-Weather racing represents about a fifth of the British fixture list and top trainers, leading owners and the best jockeys have supported All-Weather racing since its inception three decades ago.

The Polytrack surface at Lingfield Park Resort, Chelmsford City and Kempton Park and the Tapeta tracks at Wolverhampton, Southwell and Newcastle have all received significant investment to provide competitive racing and consistently attract horses from top stables.

The Championships will celebrate its own stars by hosting the All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Newcastle on Good Friday 29 April 2024. The culmination of a great season of All-Weather racing, Finals Day is the richest All-Weather racecard staged in Europe as well as one of the richest race days in the UK.

Lingfield Park will host the All-Weather Vase fixture alongside racing from Chelmsford City, making Good Friday the most high-profile single day of All-Weather Racing in Britain.

The All-Weather Championships, especially Good Friday racing at Lingfield Park, are now an established part of the British Racing Calendar.  While the All-Weather Championships were initially the idea of Arena Racing Company (ARC), everyone at ARC is enormously grateful to the support we have received from all in British Racing in helping ensure the All-Weather Championships have proved a success from the outset. As we enter the tenth season of the All-Weather Championships, kicking off on 18 October at Newcastle, we can all look forward to enjoying another winter of exciting racing ahead of crowning six new Champions on Good Friday at Newcastle. This year we hope to continue to grow international involvement with horses able to qualify for Finals Day, following the fantastic performance of French horses at Lingfield Park on Good Friday in previous years.  We’d like to thank those that continue to support the All-Weather Championships.
