The All-Weather Championships is designed to test every horse, jockey and trainer. Follow their journeys in each of the 6 categories as they compete for a spot at All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Newcastle on Good Friday.
The Championships aim to keep horses in training over the winter and increase the field sizes which in turn increases competition and excitement!
This category comprises of every 2 year old race the year before Finals Day and 3 year old race on the All-Weather over the qualifying period. To qualify for the Championships Race, a horse has to have run on the All-Weather in 3 races during the qualifying period and be rated high enough.
Prize money - £150,000 (UK’s richest 3 year old All-Weather race).
To qualify for the Championship Final, a horse has to have run a minimum of three times on the All-Weather in the qualifying period and be rated high enough.
Prize money - £150,000 (UK’s richest All-Weather Sprint race for horses 4 years old or over).
To qualify for the Championship Final, a horse has to have run a minimum of three times on the All-Weather in the qualifying period and be rated high enough.
Prize money - £150,000 (UK’s richest All-Weather Mile race).
Qualifying distances range from 13 furlongs (2600 metres) to 15 furlongs, 169 yards (3172 metres). To qualify for the Championships Race, a horse has to have run on the All-Weather in 3 races during the qualifying period and be rated high enough.
Prize money - £175,000 (UK’s richest All-Weather Stayers race for horses 4+ years old).
The Fillies & Mares category comprises every race on the All-Weather tracks over the season open to all Fillies & Mares. To qualify for the Championships Race, a horse has to have run on the All-Weather in 3 races during the qualifying period and be rated high enough.
Prize money - £150,000 (UK’s richest All-Weather Fillies & Mares race).
This category comprises all Middle Distance races - from 10 furlongs (2,000 metres) to 12 furlongs (2,400 metres) - during the qualifying period. To qualify for the Championships Race, a horse has to have run on the All-Weather in 3 races during the qualifying period.
Prize money - £175,000 (one of the UK’s richest All-Weather race).
