One-time Derby hope Salamanca looks to build on his early promise in the Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Handicap (8.30pm) at Chelmsford on Saturday, November 9.
Salamanca makes his handicap debut in the 10-furlong contest, having made all on his return from a break in a novice over the course and distance on October 26.
The son of Sea The Stars made two appearances in the spring, following up a close second at Newmarket’s Craven meeting with a fifth in the Listed Derby Trial at Lingfield Park.
Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam said: “Salamanca is in very good order.
“The ground was fast at Lingfield when he ran in the Derby Trial and he came back very jarred up, so we decided to give him the summer off.
“Now he is back and ready to go. He won nicely the other day and hopefully he can back that up. We think he is a good horse, so let’s see what he can do on Saturday.
“We are considering him for an All-Weather Championships campaign. We did not make the Derby but maybe we will make it to the Winter Derby!”
Last season’s BetUK Easter Classic runner-up Penzance makes a quick return for Mick Appleby after finishing third in Monday’s Listed Floodlit Stakes at Kempton Park.
Andaleep, runner-up in the Racing League on three occasions earlier this year, was in action for Daniel & Claire Kubler on the same Kempton Park card as he finished second in the London Middle Distance Series Final.
Intricacy makes his first appearance for Simon & Ed Crisford since taking a Meydan handicap in February, while Charlie Johnston’s Wadacre Gomez bids for a sixth course and distance success.
Felix was a high-class performer in his pomp, finishing second in the G3 Winter Derby and third in the G1 Dubai Turf in 2021. Marco Botti’s runner was last seen out contesting an Epsom Downs handicap in April.
Top weight Diderot has been lightly campaigned by James Ferguson since his sixth in last season’s BetUK Easter Classic, latterly finishing third in a Racing League handicap at Windsor.
At the foot of the weights, Windsor winner Westridge lines up for John & Thady Gosden following a gelding operation, while Jack Channon saddles all-weather debutant Majestic.
There is plenty of Listed action on the all-weather to look forward to in the coming days, with Dundalk staging the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cooley Fillies & Mares Stakes this evening. Sakti heads four runners for Ger Lyons as the trainer chases a third straight win in the race.
G3 winner Sacred Angel tops 18 entries for the BetMGM Fleur de Lys EBF Fillies' Stakes, one of two Listed races at Lingfield Park on Wednesday. G1 Yorkshire Oaks fifth Sea Theme meanwhile is among 15 contenders for the BetMGM River Eden EBF Fillies' Stakes.
Newcastle also stages a Listed race double-header on Saturday, November 16, with the BetUK Churchill Stakes and BetUK Golden Rose Stakes having moved from Lingfield Park.
