Yorkshire has Finals Day as his long-term objective after capturing a seven-furlong class two handicap at Wolverhampton on Saturday night.
In beating McManaman by half a length, the four-year-old was following up a comfortable two-length success over the course and distance last month.
Yorkshire’s record on the all-weather comprises three wins and a second from five appearances, with the handicapper allotting him a revised rating of 95 following his latest success.
Trainer Ed Bethell said: “Yorkshire has come out of Wolverhampton all good and will probably head to Southwell next on February 14.
“He did well to win at Wolverhampton as he had a wide trip. He is a lovely horse to have around at this time of the year and hopefully we can have a bit of fun with him.
“The long-term aim is Finals Day and it’s a question of whether we drop back to six furlongs or go up to a mile on the day. His next runs should tell us more.”
Roi De France is another recent winner with Finals Day potential after he overcame trouble in running to claim a mile handicap at Kempton Park. John & Thady Gosden’s runner had previously finished down the field when fancied for the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket.
The same Kempton Park meeting saw a couple of other notable performances, with last season’s BetUK All-Weather Marathon Championships runner-up Duke Of Oxford posting a neck verdict in a two-mile handicap. Michael Bell’s four-year-old could bid for a repeat win in next month’s London Stayers’ Series Final.
Power Of Destiny may have the BetMGM Winter Oaks on her radar after landing an 11-furlong fillies’ handicap, her first start since joining Ralph Beckett from Sir Michael Stoute.
Talented sprinter Kylian is now two from two on artificial surfaces after sweeping to victory in a five-furlong handicap at Newcastle. Trained by Archie Watson, this was his first success since annexing the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown Park last summer for Karl Burke.
Night Of Thunder colt Brooklyn made a promising debut at the same Newcastle fixture, with George Boughey’s newcomer taking a seven-furlong novice by almost four lengths.
The Kevin Ryan-trained Dark Moon Rising, winner of Chelmsford’s Cardinal Stakes in 2022, secured another success on the all-weather as he finished strongly in a 12-furlong handicap at Southwell.
Robert Cowell has a name to follow in the Three-Year-Old division after Elouise’s Prince produced another taking front-running display at Wolverhampton. Having won by four lengths under a penalty, the son of Cotai Glory has been given an opening mark of 87.
Lingfield Park witnessed two shock results on the same afternoon, with the Dominic Ffrench Davis-trained Ashford Hill and Pat Phelan’s Epsom Faithful returning at odds of 125/1 and 100/1 respectively.
After a month of the season, the All-Weather Champion Jockey title is shaping up to be a head-to-head between Billy Loughnane and Luke Morris, while Roger Varian makes the early running in the All-Weather Champion Trainer standings with a strike rate of 43 per cent.
